President Ueli Maurer, accompanied by Swiss National Bank Chairman Thomas Jordan, took part in the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors on 8 and 9 June 2019 in Fukuoka, Japan.
Important topics at the G20 meeting were the outlook and risks for the global economy, international tax and financial market issues, as well as development and infrastructure financing.
On 10 June, President Ueli Maurer met the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe in Tokyo. Discussions were focused on economic and financial policy issues. In discussions with Shinzō Abe, President Maurer paid tribute to Japan's global contributions and thanked him for inviting Switzerland to the G20 Finance Track.
