Protocol of amendment to double taxation agreement (DTA) between Switzerland and United States of America enters into force

On 20 September 2019 in Bern, Switzerland and the United States of America exchanged the instruments of ratification of the protocol of amendment to their double taxation agreement in the area of taxes on income (DTA). The protocol, which entered into force on the same day, represents a milestone in tax relations between Switzerland and the USA.

Led by the President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer, the Swiss government received the head of state of the Republic of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in Bern on 13 September 2019 with military honours. In addition to President Maurer, the Vice President of the Federal Council, Simonetta Sommaruga, and Federal Councillors Guy Parmelin and Ignazio Cassis also took part in the official talks.

Confederation reckoning on surplus of CHF 2.8 billion

The Confederation is reckoning on a surplus of CHF 2.8 billion for this year. That is an improvement of CHF 1.6 billion relative to the budget. The Federal Council was informed about the current extrapolation on 14 August 2019.
