  Fact check of the 10th January 2020

  On page 2 of its issue of Friday, 10 January 2020, Blick reported that Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer had announced to Tele Züri at the beginning of this week that he would be holding a one-on-one meeting with US President Donald Trump at the WEF.

  The FDF would like to make it clear that this report is false. Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer has neither spoken to Tele Züri this week, nor has he announced one-on-one talks with President Trump. The presidential department would be responsible for asking about and arranging any meeting with President Trump.

  Detailed information will be provided in the Federal Council press release on 17 January.

  Fact check of the 30th December 2019

  In their issues of Monday, 30 December 2019, the Tages-Anzeiger and other Tamedia AG media outlets published an interview with Chinese conceptual artist Ai Weiwei.

  The facts regarding a question concerning the FDF were reported incorrectly:

  The article states that President Ueli Maurer "signed the controversial agreement on China's new Silk Road".

  In fact, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of cooperation in third markets was signed by State Secretaries Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch, Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and Daniela Stoffel, Director of the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF), and not by the heads of state of China and Switzerland. This is a Technical Memorandum of Understanding.

  MoU
