Customs

Customs and the Border Guard carry out various duties for the Confederation. For example, they ensure compliance with Swiss and international legal provisions, in the areas of food safety, endangered species conventions, narcotics and medications, for instance. Customs agents also collect various taxes. As the largest civil security body, the Border Guard is also prepared for assignments within the scope of operations of Frontex, the European agency for external border security.
