Two goals of the Federal Council for the current legislative period are for Switzerland to exploit the opportunities offered by information and communication technologies (ICT) and for cyber attacks to be combated effectively.

The Confederation intends to exploit the opportunities offered by ICT by pushing ahead with e-government, among other things. E-government means that the authorities work together more electronically, thereby simplifying contact with Swiss inhabitants.

In order to ensure the security of its ICT, it is important for the Federal Administration to be on the leading edge and have a good network beyond organisational boundaries.
