11. jui 2002 - On Saturday morning, a memorial service will take place in Ufa, the capital of the Russian republic of Bashkortostan, for the victims of the aeroplane accident which occurred last week near Überlingen (Germany). President Kaspar Villiger will participate in the memorial service and express his solidarity with the bereaved.
The service is expected to begin at 10.00 am local time (6.00 am CET). President Villiger is expected to lay a wreath in Ufa and in the name of the Federal Council express the sincerest condolences and sympathies of the Swiss people to the relatives of the Russian victims. Mr. Villiger will assure the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan that on the part of Switzerland everything will be done to clarify the facts surrounding the tragic accident.
The president will be accompanied by a small delegation, including among others André Auer, Director of the Federal Office for Civil Aviation.
