At its meeting today, the Federal Council took the decision to extend the Federal Decree on Monetary Assistance dating from 2004. The decree sets out the upper limit for financial contributions under the Monetary Assistance Act. The federal government currently has CHF 2.5 billion at its disposal for monetary assistance measures. The final decision on the extension rests with parliament.
The current Monetary Assistance Decree expires on 30 September 2009.
