The Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon paid an official visit to Switzerland from 10 to 11 September 2012 on the tenth anniversary of Switzerland becoming a member of the United Nations. On the second day, he travelled to Bern and made a speech to the Swiss parliament; the first United Nations Secretary-General to do so. Afterwards, a working lunch took place with President Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf at the Lohn manor house in Kehrsatz in Bern. Federal Councillors Doris Leuthard and Didier Burkhalter were also present at the working lunch. The official section of the visit ended with a press conference.
